Twitter passes 10 Billion Tweets sent

Twitter_512x512Twitter_512x512.png" width="48" height="48" />That little Social Network Twitter just passed a big milestone, over 10 Billion messages (Tweets) have been sent so far. Now I'm sure Facebook does that a month but for Twitter a relatively new network this is really good news.

Sadly it appears that the 10 billionth tweet was by a protected user so it can't be importalised for all time and looked back on by future generations as the defining words of a generation.

Maybe not....

Twitter becomes "places" Aware

Twitter_512x512Twitter have announced that they will soon be adding "Places" to their location Api, if your not aware "Places" is the way Foursquare and other location check in services work. Instead of just asking the GPS in your device to tell it the longitude and latitude of your position "Places" allows you to say your at a Shop or Park instead of just a string of digits that mean little.

This will also improve location security as well you could set Home as just the street you live on rather than the exact location of your house, likewise when trying to arrange a meet up a place is a much easier target than a set of coordinate on a map.

This is good news for Twitter users and better location data and improved security will make it a more widely used aspect of Twitter on the move.

Twitter Charity Webinar - Still time to register

charity-webinar-still-time-to-register.html">Twitter_512x512Twitter_512x512.png" width="54" height="54" />My first Twitter Social Media Charity Webinar will be held on March the 9th starting at 10:30am GMT, I have designed the webinar session to be low cost only £16.02 and together we will explore Twitter and you can ask what ever questions you may have.

We will be getting practical to show you how to get the best from Twitter and not just why to do things.

To mark my first webinar I will be giving away £20 of Twitter Advertising and a campaign assisted by me, a great opportunity to reach out to Twitter users and let them know about your services or organisation.

You can register here and if you can't make the March session I will be running it again in April.

Apple's NEW iPhone Policy SCREWS Charity / Non-profits

So the BullyingUK app version 3 has been rejected, you remember version 2 was rejected because Apple ban donation buttons from their apps they want us to give them a 30% cut... well get this NEW policy time from Apple and this one is the biggest STUFF U's to Non-profit I have ever witnessed by a corporation.

Now Apple says you must include content from multiple sources in your iPhone apps, so that means any advice charity will have to include information from other sources not just their own websites RSS if your using sites like APPMakr, all though this new policy seems to be across the board even if your having a bespoke app built.

Facebook is Down!

Facebook is down, users are reporting on Twitter they can't login and that for some when they can they are seeing the Old Facebook layout. My guess is that is a local cache issue rather than Facebook switching back.

More as we get it....
