GooglebuzzIf you are thinking of setting up a Google Buzz account I have a tip for you, don't tie it directly to any of your existing Google Email addresses or Accounts instead create a new Gmail address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and an associated Google Account and Public Profile.

In that Google Account add the email addresses of the staff who will be using the Buzz account as secondary email address (handy to recover passwords).

If you integrate your Google Profile (your charities brand in Google Buzz) with an existing single staffs Gmail account what happens if they leave?

You may also find the Buzz updates an overload mixed into your inbox where as treating it as a separate system allow you to focus on buzz like you would Twitter or Facebook, being able to see responses to your Buzzes is a key part of the system give it the space so you can really make the best of it.

Using this method Google Apps customers can have a Buzz account separate from the Domains system allowing them to get started with Buzz now.

Buzz Username / Profile Address

You need to make sure both your username and profile address are the same, ideally use exactly the same "Handle" you use on Twitter and Facebook, users expect to already "Know" your brands username keep it simple for them and it will help them discover you more easily.

Right now a big part of Buzz is discovery and that means "I wonder if such and such is on here" so it's either use the Buzz Search or visit the brands profile page keeping it consistent will really help user connect with you.

Rich Profile Data

Add as much information to your Google Profile as possible, links to your website or websites ,blog , galleries, social media pages the lot. Add in a BIO about your charity and expose your public contact email address  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The more data you give the eaiser it will be for people who share your causes goals will be able to find you. Remember this is Google they know how to hep people find your content now let them find you!

Don't be AutoNoisy

A big thing with Buzz is to connect you external sites like Twitter and Flickr to feed into Buzz. BUT WAIT I say don't do that, in my experience Twitter updates in your Buzz stream are really noisy and off putting why see the same updates twice?

Googles filters aren't great at the moment so rather than be off putting just stick to sending and responding to Buzz  updates with Buzz and Twitter for Tweets and Facebook for what ever a Facebook update is.

Over time it maybe possible to keep a clean stream but at the moment keep them separate and harness the power of each network in it's own ecosystem.

If your a charity or no-profit with a Google Buzz profile let me know so I can add you to my list of Charity / Non-profits who Google Buzz
